just my observation from experience), it seems like a migration from Samba/CIFS goes significantly slower: almost like your networked client downloads everything and then re-uploads it to the new destination. Also (and again, I reiterate, I'm not an expert here. I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I probably wouldn't recommend it: if you do the migration from something like Samba/CIFS, you're more than likely going to run into issues like what you're seeing when symlinks and other stuff come into play. I hadn't even attempted to do the migration from Windows. I have a TR-004 and I'm doing somewhat of the inverse to you: I configured my TR-004 in RAID-10 and I'd like to move all the data to that, and then eventually swap out the internal NAS (TS-251+ in my case) for SSDs in a RAID 1. I'm doing a similar task to you, and I've come to a similar stumbling block. If I can get the file migration issue figured out, I'm fairly certain the reinstall is as simple as uninstalling Container Station and then installing it again and picking a new location on the 2nd volume and then keeping the existing settings.

I've used on multiple occasions full Docker installs (on Linux and Windows) and it is very easy to migrate an entire installation to another VM and then ensure the daemon.json is linked up properly. With that said, what would be the best way to migrate everything I already have, but into another volume without restarting all over again? Restarting as in, needing to spin everything up again and re-attaching the volumes?

Plus when running a file scan on Windows over UNC, it yields into the Petabytes.įurther tracking things down, the cause for issues is inside of /docker/lib/overlay with a couple folders mirroring (I guess) data from my other network shares. My entire installation in /Container is ~30GB, however it seemingly explodes with found files into hundreds of GBs. Creating a backup of the directory yields WAY more files than are on record as being there.

I'd like to migrate my entire Container Station to my new TR-002 with 2x SSDs in it for better performance, however I have some issues.
